Empowering Local Entrepreneurs: Sparking Growth Beyond Outreach
Total Impact: Two Business Owners
Location: Kaduna
Date: May, 2025
At Diaconia, our mission goes beyond providing immediate relief — we believe in empowerment that endures.
During our recent outreach, we extended our impact by supporting two small business owners, helping them strengthen their livelihoods and gain tools for sustainable growth.
One of them is Mr. Stephen Francis, who operates a modest laundry service in his neighborhood. For months, Stephen struggled to keep up with customer demand due to limited access to essential supplies like detergents and soap. At times, he had to borrow from neighbors just to keep his business running. Recognizing his determination, our team stepped in to provide three large containers, two cartons of detergent, and one carton of soap. With this support, Stephen can now serve his customers consistently and manage his business with confidence.
We also met Mrs. Blessing John, a talented and well-respected hair braider in the community. Blessing dreamed of expanding her services by selling hair products directly to her clients, giving them convenience while earning extra income. Through our small business empowerment initiative, we provided her with braiding wool, hair creams, children’s rubber bands, ribbons, hair clips, styling gel, styling spray, and combs. These new materials have transformed her business, allowing her to cater to more customers and build a stronger brand presence in her area.
By empowering small business owners like Stephen and Blessing, Diaconia continues to foster economic independence and resilience across communities — one entrepreneur at a time.
